Erb to join Florida Academic Library Services Cooperative as Director of Library Support and Training

The Florida Academic Library Services Cooperative (FALSC) has selected R. Brian Erb to serve as Director of Library Support and Training. FALSC, which operates the integrated library system used by public college and university libraries throughout Florida, is part of the Florida Virtual Campus, administered by the University of West Florida’s Division of Research and Strategic Innovation.

Mr. Erb brings more than 20 years of experience in multiple areas of academic libraries to the position. Since 2015, he has served as the Instruction, Science, and Engineering Librarian as well as the Shore Librarian for the Semester at Sea program at Colorado State University. Formerly, Mr. Erb served as the Assistant Help Desk Coordinator for Colorado State, training and supervising students on the help desks as well as providing technical help to the university community in library and computer- and technology-related access problems.

Prior to his work at Colorado State University, Mr. Erb taught and served as the Reference and Education Librarian at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Reference and Instruction Librarian at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology/History/Education from Furman University and a Master of Science degree in Library and Information Science from Florida State University.
