Dear Campus Community,

I am pleased to announce that Jayme Host has been named dean of the School of the Arts, effective July 1, 2024.

In her current role as the director of East Carolina University’s School of Theatre and Dance, within the College of Fine Arts and Communication, Host has led the school’s strategic plan while serving as its senior academic officer, responsible for curriculum, human resources and fiscal operations. Previously, she was the producer and artistic director of East Carolina University’s Loessin Playhouse, a major arts hub for the eastern North Carolina region. She also served as professor and head of the dance program at Lock Haven University (Pa.) and was founder and artistic director of the Lewisburg Dance Conservatory (Pa.).

Also at East Carolina, Host was the coordinator of the ECO-Librium Conference, convening artists, scientists and educators to develop climate action/sustainability/green projects. Further information about Hosts accomplishments are found in her attached CV.

Host earned an M.F.A with Honors in Modern Dance from the University of Utah and a B.A. with Distinction and Honors in Dance from Goucher College.

We are delighted to welcome Jayme to the College of Charleston while we also thank Interim Dean Beth Meyer-Bernstein for her outstanding leadership in the School of the Arts during this transition period.

Sincerely,

Suzanne
