Claflin University taps Johnson for Communications and Marketing Leadership Post

After a national search, Claflin University has appointed George Johnson, Jr. to the position of Assistant Vice President for Communications and Marketing. He will join the university on Sept. 7, 2016.

 

Mr. Johnson currently serves as the Director of Integrated Marketing and Public Relations at Oakwood University in Alabama. Prior to joining Oakwood, he worked 12 years with the Seventh-day Adventist Church of North America in Maryland, with the last four years as Director of the Office of Communication.

 

From 2000 to 2002, Mr. Johnson was the Director of the Office of Public Relations and Development for Pine Forge Academy in Pennsylvania. After receiving his degree, he served a two-year internship at the Columbia Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in Maryland, and then joined the organization as Assistant Director of the Office of Communication Services.

 

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Columbia Union College in Maryland. He received a graduate certificate in Strategic Public Relations and Integrated Communications in 2005 from Towson University in Maryland.
