Savannah State University appoints Deans for colleges of Business Administration and of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences

Savannah State University made the following academic leadership appointments, effective in September:
Sudesh Mujumdar, Ph.D.
Dr. Sudesh Mujumdar is the dean of the College of Business Administration. Dr. Mujumdar comes to Savannah State from the Romain College of Business at the University of Southern Indiana, where he has chaired the Department of Economics and Marketing since 2010 and served as a professor of economics. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Bombay and has a master’s degree and doctorate in economics from the University of Cincinnati.
Shannon Mathews, Ph.D.
Dr. Shannon Mathews joined Savannah State as dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Dr. Mathews was an associate professor of gerontology, program coordinator, and chair for the Gerontology Program in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Work at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU), a position she has held since 2007. For the past year, she has served as interim associate dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, Business and Education at WSSU. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Pomona College and earned both a master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Kentucky.
