Montana State University Northern taps Amtmann to serve as Dean of Health Sciences

Kelly Amtmann RN, MSN, EdD(c), has been named Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Montana State University Northern. She brings 30 years of experience in nursing education, acute care, and long-term care to this academic leadership position.

Ms. Amtmann currently serves as an Associate Professor of Nursing at Montana Tech of the University of Montana, where she has taught nursing since 1997. She has developed, implemented, and taught nursing courses in an ASN, BSN Online Completion Program, and 4-year BSN Pre-licensure program. She has received two faculty achievement awards for excellence in teaching from Montana Tech.

In addition to her career in higher education, Ms. Amtmann has served clinical roles in various healthcare settings, including St. James Healthcare, Montana State Hospital, St. James Community Hospital, and Merced Community Medical Center.  

With a Bachelor of Arts in Nursing degree from Carroll College, Helena Mont., Ms. Amtmann earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree, with the Family Nurse Practitioner Option, at Gonzaga University, Spokane, Wash. She is an ABD candidate in the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program at the University of Montana, Missoula, Mont.
