Savannah State University Names Dean of the College of Teacher Education

Savannah State University has appointed Mary Kropiewnicki, EdD, to the leadership position of dean of the College of Teacher Education. She currently serves as assistant dean for Doctoral Education and Program Development and associate professor of Education Policy and Leadership at Cabrini College in Radnor, Penn.

Prior to joining Cabrini College, Dr. Kropiewnicki served 23 years at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Penn. She held numerous leadership roles, including chair of the Department of Educational Leadership. dissertation chair and committee member, Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) grant director and principal investigator, coordinator of the Master’s Program in Middle Level Education, coordinator then chair of the Doctor of Education Department, and coordinator of assessment for the School of Education.

Before her career in higher education, she was a teacher and administrator in public and private elementary and middle level schools in Pennsylvania and South Carolina.  She was the Elementary Principal for the Central Dauphin School District in Harrisburg, Penn., and Middle School Principal for the Line Mountain School District in Trevorton, Penn.

Dr. Kropiewnicki earned her Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Temple University in Pennsylvania in 2000. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at Bloomsburg University and a Master of Science degree in Reading from the University of Scranton, both in Pennsylvania. She completed post-master’s studies in Curriculum and Instruction at Bloomsburg.
