CCAS Names Cox the Executive Director After National Search

from the website of the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences

CCAS President Elizabeth A. Say is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors has selected Amber Cox of Champaign, Illinois, as the next executive director of CCAS. Ms. Cox has been with the Committee on Instructional Cooperation (CIC) for the past ten years as, progressively, program director, assistant director, and associate director. During her time at CIC, Cox is credited with having been instrumental in developing several key initiatives, including a Mellon Fellows partnership between the CIC and the Associate Colleges of the Midwest and the development of CourseShare, the CIC's signature program for delivering Less Commonly Taught Languages.  She oversees programs in faculty leadership and development, including the Academic Leadership Program and the Departmental Executive Directors' seminar.

“Amber brings an ideal set of experiences to CCAS,” says President Say. “The search committee was impressed with her depth of experience and her commitment to the liberal arts and sciences. From a pool of over 50 applicants, ultimately she stood out by demonstrating her enthusiasm for the mission of CCAS and her thoughtful ideas about how to guide the organization into the future.” Cox replaces Anne-Marie McCartan, who announced last summer that she would step down after completing 10 years as executive director. Cox and her family will relocate to the Williamsburg area, where The College of William & Mary serves as host institution for CCAS. She begins work on July 1.
