South Texas College names Sale the Dean of Distance Learning
After a national search, South Texas College has appointed Rachel A. Sale, Ph.D. to the administrative position of Dean of Distance Learning. She will join South Texas College in February 2020.
Currently, Dr. Sale is the Executive Director of the Division of Educational Innovation and Extended Studies at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo. She joined the university in 2009 as Director of the Center for Innovative Instruction and Center for Teaching and Learning. As a member of the faculty, she has served as an Associate Professor of Instructional Design and has taught in the Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Technology and the School of Education.
Prior to her career in higher education, Dr. Sale was a teacher for 14 years at Eldon R1 Schools in Eldon, Mo. She served four years as a technology education specialist and teacher, and ten years as an art teacher. Additionally, she served three years in the United State Marine Corps.
Dr. Sale holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education magna cum laude from Lincoln University and a Master of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands. She earned her Master of Science degree in Information Technology and her Ph.D. degree in Education with a specialty in Instructional Design at Capella University. She is an Adobe Education Trainer and Campus Leader and has development expertise with courses and modules in Blackboard, Web CT, Moodle, ANGEL, eCollege, Sakai, Schoology, and Canvas.
