The University of Alabama appoints Vaughn to the leadership post of Associate VP for Advancement

After a national search, the University of Alabama has appointed Deborah Vaughn to the position of Associate Vice President for Advancement. Vaughn’s career spans more than 28 years of experience, including 19 years in higher education in both public and private institutions, with 15 years managing complex development teams.

Vaughn currently serves as Senior Executive Director of Development and Chief Development Officer for the University of Mississippi. In this role, she provides strategic leadership and vision to the University Development team, which includes school- and initiative-based development officers, corporate and foundation relations, annual giving, prospect management and research, donor relations, and communications.

 

Over her fundraising career, Vaughn also has held leadership development roles at Vanderbilt University (2001 to 2005) and Mississippi State University (1998 to 2001). Prior to entering the field of development, she worked nine years in strategic sales and marketing in education publishing.

 

Vaughn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from Mississippi State University, graduating cum laude. She earned a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration, with an emphasis in Institutional Advancement, from Vanderbilt University.
