Myers McRae appoints Medders as President

Macon, GA -- Emily Parker Myers, President and Chief Executive Officer of Myers McRae Executive Search and Consulting, announced today the appointment of Alan G. Medders, Ph.D., as president of the firm. He will assume this executive role in the national firm in February 2016.

“A distinctive hallmark of Myers McRae is our extensive experience in and knowledge of higher education,” said Myers, who will continue as CEO. “Alan is an outstanding administrator, bringing more than 25 years of experience in higher education. Medders has had a highly successful career in higher education and foundation administration, fundraising, planned giving, marketing, communication, and fiduciary and asset management.  During his professional career, he has served on and chaired numerous search committees for coaches, athletic directors, faculty, development and foundation personnel, academic and division directors, deans, vice presidents, and provosts.

Currently, he serves at Columbus State University in Georgia as Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of the CSU Foundation. Previously, he served as Vice President for University Advancement at the University of North Alabama and Executive Director of the UNA Foundation. Over his career, he has held additional leadership roles in higher education institutions and not-for-profit organizations in Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky.

“We are fortunate to have Alan joining the firm,” said Chairman R. Kirby Godsey. “He not only is an exceptional individual and leader, but he also brings a wealth of knowledge of higher education and leadership qualities to this key position.

“Under Emily Myers’ leadership for the past eight years, this firm has flourished and has expanded significantly its clientele of colleges, universities, and not-for-profit organizations throughout the nation,” he said. “The selection of Alan to serve as president once again demonstrates her vision for continuing to develop this firm and heighten its national reputation in executive search.”

In addition to a bachelor’s degree and two graduate degrees, Medders holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He and his wife of 31 years, Denise, have two daughters.  Andrea is a junior at the University of North Alabama and Alison, who is married to Dustin Duncan, lives in Montgomery, Ala.

“I am honored that Ms. Myers and Dr. Godsey have selected me to join the firm in this capacity,” said Medders. “Having known and worked with these two well-respected leaders in higher education for many years, I look forward to joining them and the entire professional team at Myers McRae.”
