People often asked why our National Corporate Office is in Macon instead of Atlanta. In addition to the great quality of life available in Macon, the biggest factor is the traffic. Macon is located about an hour's drive south of Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Since many of the colleges and universities we serve are outside the area, we spend a lot of time at the airport. Most days, it is faster and easier to reach the airport from Macon than it is from some parts of metropolitan Atlanta.
Macon is a wonderful place to live. Offering large city amenities and warm hospitality, this historic city has a population of an estimated 93,000, with the metropolitan area reaching almost 230,000. More than 30,000 students attend the seven colleges and universities serving the Macon area, with only Atlanta and Athens having larger student populations in Georgia.
A popular tourist destination, Macon is known for its beautiful homes and cultural events and attractions. Notable attractions include the Ocmulgee National Monument & Indian Mounds, the Tubman African American Museum, the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, and the Museum of Arts and Sciences. The community supports five performing arts theaters, the most prominent being the historic 1,000-seat Grand Opera House, which is home to the Macon Symphony and the Macon Youth Orchestra.
If you are visiting Georgia, come by and see us. We would be pleased to show you around our city.
