Robert W. Haney, Ph.D., Senior Consultant, served almost three decades in higher education in faculty and administrative positions. He was Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs at Georgia College & State University prior to his retirement in 2009. During his tenure at GCSU, he was Chief of Staff from 2004 to 2008.
Previously, he spent 20 years in academic administrative roles at Georgia Southern University. Beginning his career at GSU as Assistant to the Dean, he went on to serve as Assistant Dean, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. He participated on numerous search committees for academic and operational administrators, often serving as the chair.
Dr. Haney taught at Georgetown College in Kentucky, Miami University in Ohio, and the University of Kentucky. A summa cum laude graduate of Mercer University with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and French, he earned a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Spanish at the University of Kentucky. He is a member and past chapter officer of Phi Kappa Phi.
He has provided leadership at both the university and the state levels. For eight years, he chaired the University System of Georgia Regents’ Administrative Committee on the Assessment of Institutional Effectiveness. He also was a member of the University System of Georgia Council on General Education.
